“Art opens our senses and minds, making us see the world and the many challenges it is facing from different perspectives.”
—Matthias Arndt

The ARNDT Collection: From One World to Another is an introduction to the private art collection of Matthias Arndt and Tiffany Wood. By sharing a selection of key artworks from the collection, this intimate exhibition offers an insight into Matthias and Tiffany’s passion of collecting and their special, lasting relationships that arise with artists and their works. With locations in Berlin, Athens, and Cape Schanck, Victoria, the ARNDT Collection is distinct in its approach to representing artists from across the globe.

From otherworldly figurative depictions to abstract expressions and handcrafted objects, the artworks on display span a diverse constellation that includes painting, film, sculpture, ceramics, photography, works on paper, and furniture design. Significant international artists are presented alongside contemporary Australian artists to convey a myriad of established and emerging voices that juxtapose historical artworks—dating as far back as the 14th century.

Collecting art carries a profound responsibility; each artwork represents an active transfer of ideas and discourse between the artist and the collector. As custodians Matthias and Tiffany act as mediators, sharing with a broader audience the personal narratives and world views of the artists contained in their collection.

The ARNDT Collection: From One World to Another reveals an individual story of the journey of art collecting. Through conversations between artworks across this exhibition, a cumulative exchange of ideas builds to echo the spirit of the ARNDT Collection—to inspire new ways of seeing and apprehending the world.
